Theris ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Theris mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you use Theris. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

  • Account information: name, email, password (hashed), profile photo.

  • Authentication data: when signing in with Google or Apple, we receive basic profile details (name, email, unique identifier).

  • User-generated content: places you add, photos, reviews, ratings, comments, favorites, and business claims.

  • Business profile info (if you manage a listing): business name, address, category, hours, contact details, photos, events, and promotional content.

  • Payment information: subscriptions are processed by Apple (StoreKit) or Google (Play Billing). We receive status and transaction IDs — not full payment details.

  • Communications: feedback, support requests, or messages you send us.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Location data (coarse and precise, when permitted) to power "Near Me" discovery, map features, and proximity recommendations.

  • Device info: model, OS, app version, language, time zone, device identifiers.

  • Usage data: pages viewed, features used, search terms, taps, session duration.

  • Log data: IP address, access times, diagnostic logs.

  • Push notification token from Firebase Cloud Messaging, used only to deliver notifications.

1.3 Information from Third Parties

  • Google Places API: public data (address, photos, hours) when searching or submitting places.

  • Google / Apple OAuth: basic profile data when you sign in with those services.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Create and manage your account.

  • Show places, businesses, and personalized recommendations based on location and preferences.

  • Display your contributions (photos, reviews, places) to the Theris community.

  • Send push notifications, emails, and in-app messages about activity relevant to you.

  • Process subscriptions and verify entitlements.

  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security issues.

  • Improve the Service through analytics and research. Comply with legal obligations.

3. How We Share Your Information

  • We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:

  • Publicly on the Service: profile name, profile photo, submitted places, reviews, and comments are visible to other users.

  • Business owners: when you interact with a business, the owner may see attributed or aggregated activity.

  • Service providers: AWS (hosting, storage), Firebase/Google (push, analytics), Google Maps Platform, Apple & Google (payments), SendGrid / AWS SES (email).

  • Legal: to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect rights and safety.

  • Business transfers: in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your data may be transferred.

  • 4. Your Privacy Choices

  • Location: enable or disable access in your device settings anytime.

  • Notifications: manage push and email notifications from the Manage tab or device settings.

  • Account data: view and edit your profile from the Manage tab.

  • Account deletion: request deletion of your account and data from within the app or by email. Some data may be retained for legal or security reasons.

  • Marketing email: opt out via the unsubscribe link. Transactional messages cannot be disabled.

5. Data Retention

  • We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to operate the Service. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.

6. Security

  • We use industry-standard safeguards — encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords, access controls, and secure cloud infrastructure — to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

  • Theris is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we learn we have, we will delete it promptly.

8. International Users

  • Theris is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., your data may be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where privacy laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.

9. Your Rights
